'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' teaser trailer brings another heroine to the galaxy (w/video)
This week apparently didn't have enough geek in it, so Disney and Lucasfilm decided to drop off an early Christmas present.
The teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hit the internet Thursday monring and every news site is buzzing about it. In the minute and change clip, we get Hong Kong action legend Donnie Yen wielding a staff, Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker narrating/monologuing like he's starring in King Lear, and Felicity Jones channeling her inner Katniss Everdeen to rebel -- even against the Rebellion.
Gareth Edwards, who directed 2014's Godzilla remake, helms the new tale of Jones' heroine, Jyn Erso, who joins the Rebellion before the events of A New Hope for a clandestine mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.
Rogue One will be the first of three stand alone Star Wars stories that tell about bravery across the galaxy far, far away that aren't directly involved in the episodic saga of the Skywalker family.
It's not due in theaters until December 16, but we'll probably get many more trailers to hold us over before then.
