Sons of Anarchy and Walking Dead stars swap acting for singing
New drinking game! Every time Beth Greene on The Walking Dead starts warbling one of her creepy hippie rural lullabies, do a shot of something strong! Not just for fun, but for survival. Okay, that's a little unfair, especially since Beth's real-life portrayer, Emily Kinney, is a legit crooner, appearing in Spring Awakening on Broadway. With her AMC show kicking major ratings butt, Kinney is surfing the hype with a new EP, the six-track Expired Lover, released this week. (The album cover is of her crying -- jeez, is this woman ever happy?!) Here's a sampling of the new stuff, which is far more modern and likable than Beth's ambling zombie serenades.
Sons of Anarchy's Katey Sagal (pictured), who you also know as Married With Children's Peg Bundy, is better-known as an actress than a singer, but her new LP, Covered (due Nov. 11), is actually her third solo release. Over 10 tracks, the 59-year-old with the smoky, biker-girl-gritty chops salutes Jackson Browne (For a Dancer), Joni Mitchell (For Free) and Ron Sexsmith (Secret Heart). Here's here sly beat-heavy take on Tom Petty's Free Fallin'.
