Surprise! 'Family Guy' is bringing back Brian Griffin on Dec. 15
In a move that should surprise only the few people out there who thought The Sound of Music Live would be good, it looks like Family Guy is bringing back Brian Griffin. ZOMG WHAT A SURPRISE WHO KNEW I SURE DIDN'T.
The network isn't saying anything, but Entertainment Weekly reports Brian (with voice by series creator Seth MacFarlane) will return in the Dec. 15 episode, although they don't know how. He was hit by a car in the Nov. 24 episode, and was ostensibly replaced by Tony Sirico as Vinny the dog.
More than 128,000 people have signed a Change.org petition to bring Brian back to the show, but it's pretty obvious he was going to be back on the show somehow -- he's still listed in future episodes, including one next fall with Maya Rudolph. That kind of spoils the surprise here.
Fox is keeping mum on the entire incident, but you have to hand it to them for creating a buzz for the show, which is getting a little long in the tooth. As for all you goofballs who said the mutt's death made you cry ... really? Crying over a dead cartoon character is something you should have stopped doing back in 1986 when Optimus Prime died in Transformers The Movie. Now that was sad. They brought him back, anyway. It's almost like they're animated and you can do whatever you want with them.
