'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' starts Monday (VIDEO)
Okay, fine, we admit it: Our expectations for this show are incredibly high. And why not? Fallon is among the most entertaining and refreshing voices in late-night TV right now, and he’s bringing along to the Tonight Show plenty of the things that made Late Night such a treat: he’s staying in New York City, moving just across the hall from his Late Night studio; his houseband the Roots, a big part of almost all of Jimmy’s most memorable segments, aren’t going anywhere; and he’s still able to recruit all-star guests.
Tonight, he kicks things off on NBC with guests Will Smith and U2, the beginning of a week of post-Olympics shows airing at midnight. (He'll transition into his normal 11:35 p.m. timeslot next week.) This week's guest lineup also includes Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell, Jerry Seinfeld and Lady Gaga. Bring it, Fallon.
If you're wondering exactly what elements from Late Night are going to make it to the new show, check out the video below, in which Fallon does an "Ask Jimmy" segment and answers questions about the Roots, announcer Steve Higgins and Thank You Notes.
See you at midnight, Jimmy!
