The Water Cooler: Makeup made for selfies; also Kong vs. Godzilla
Let me take a selfie
For years makeup companies have checked and tested the performance of its foundations in different lighting. This keeps you from looking streaky under fluorescent bulbs in your office or outside in bright sun. But now the experts from CoverGirl are adding another test for the selfie generation: the iPhone challenge. Plenty of brands already offer "photoready" promises, but now companies are tweaking the mix to combat iPhone photo challenges (that pesky front-facing camera). Basically, you'll be able to buy makeup that looks best in your favorite filters. So who cares what that makeup looks like in person, buy it for the likes. I'll take a foundation in the shade sepia.
One for the marketing agencies
Say what you want about T-Swift, but the Bad Blood singer is a bit of a marketing genius. Which is why it makes sense that the pop sensation said in a recent GQ article that if she wasn't mega famous she would have gone into marketing. "I would have gone to college, and I would probably be involved with a form of business where words and ideas are at the forefront. Such as marketing," she said.
Godzilla vs. King Kong is really going to happen
It's the classic "who would win" scenario we debated as kids: Godzilla vs. Kong. We've come a long way since the 1962 Japanese version, and Warner Bros. is ready to pit the beasts against each other again. Leading up to the match will be Kong: Skull Island and a sequel to last year's Godzilla. But now is when you turn to the nerd in your cubicle pod and raise the size issue. If Godzilla is big enough to tower over San Francisco skyscrapers, how is it a fair fight for Peter Jackson's Kong? Have fun arguing over that at the water cooler.
