Four Tampa Bay coffee shops are turning into Luke's Diner from 'Gilmore Girls' on Wednesday
Rejoice, Gilmore Girls fans who love coffee almost as much as Lorelai.
Netflix is turning 250 diners around the country into Luke's Diner and offering FREE COFFEE on Wednesday in anticipation of the series' four-episode revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, coming next month.
A promotional website, townofstarshollow.org (which hilariously says "Last updated May 2007," when the show went off the air), says Tampa's two Blind Tiger Cafe locations (1901 E Seventh Ave., 6500 N Florida Ave.) and Temple Terrace's Felicitous Coffee & Tea House (11706 N 51st St.) will be transformed. A fourth location, the Lab (1703 W State St, Tampa) was added Tuesday. (Woe to us Gilmore girls in St. Pete.)
According to Eater, Netflix "would be picking up the tab for 250 12-ounce cups of coffee. ... The online streaming service will be providing the shops with "all the Luke's Diner essentials" including branded aprons and T-shirts."
But will they have a flannel-clad, backward-baseball-cap-wearing Scott Patterson dishing out sanity amidst the madness and hating on cellphones? That is, after all, what Luke's is all about.
Netflix is set to release Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving.
