Van Damme takes on Tampa's Dave Bautista in 'Kickboxer' reboot, sort of (w/video)
Tampa's resident Marvel hero is the (massive, scary) villain in a new trailer for Kickboxer: Vengeance, a reboot of the '80s cult classic Kickboxer, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme.
This time Van Damme plays the martial arts master who is training a young fighter to take on the beast of a man who killed his brother, played by WWE and Guardians of the Galaxy star — and Tampa resident — Dave Bautista.
Bautista, who'll reprise his role as big blue guy Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 next year, is no gentle giant in this one. He kills a couple dudes with his bare hands in the trailer alone.
Kickboxer: Vengeance is out in theaters Sept. 2. We can only pray that JCVD will recreate one of the finest dance scenes in modern cinema:
