We're probably getting more 'X-Files'
The truth is still out there. If you squint a little.
It seems creator Chris Carter knew exactly what he was doing when he ended this year's six-episode X-Files revival on a mega cliffhanger. More episodes are on the horizon, if everyone can get busy schedules worked out.
Fox has hinted at it before, but executives confirmed this week at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that they would "love to do it" and are in "significant talks with all three of the principals."
Carter previously told IndieWire the ending — an alien spaceship hovering overhead while Scully raced to find her and Mulder's long lost son and the cure to an alien virus — was "me being devious. What it does, for me, is provide the opportunity to promote more X-Files episodes, which I think everyone would like — including me, the studio, the network and the fans."
Well, needless to say I'm on board. I know The X-Files is always short on answers, but I need at least a few here, Chris.
The stars and Carter have previously indicated that they're also up for it, but if that wasn't enough for you, David Duchovny tweeted this Tuesday in wishing Gillian Anderson a happy 48th birthday.
Happy Birthday, Gillian. If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol' badge soon-ish. Love, D— David Duchovny (@davidduchovny) August 9, 2016
There's reason to be hopeful, but trust no one, Mr. Mulder, until contracts are signed.
