Update: It's a "quality hold" for Girl Scouts' Lemon Chalet Cremes
UPDATE: Leave it to the Girl Scouts to come up with new terminology for a recall. Little Brownie Bakers, the folks who make the scout's cookies, say that it isn't a voluntary recall of the Lemon Chalet Cremes. Instead, it is a "quality hold." Hmmm, the cookies have been sent out. The company, which is encouraging buyers not to eat them because they don't taste good, will replace them. If that isn't the definition of a recall, I'm not sure what is.

The word from the folks at the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida is that the Tampa Bay area did not receive any of the Lemon Chalet Cremes that were found to have an off taste and smell. The cookies that were affected were tested and determined to be safe for consumers to eat. But Little Brownie Bakers, the company that makes the cookies, felt they were not up to their quality standards and has issued a voluntary recall. The company is sending replacement cookies to councils that received any of the 15 lot code numbers that were on the list.
The GSWCF serves eight counties -- Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter -- so that's good news for us. You're bound to find a cookie that is just right for you. And luckily no other cookies in the Scout arsenal were found to have any quality issues. I am personally happy that the Thin Mints were not in a bad batch.
