Ginormous list of summer camps in the Tampa Bay area
We promised to get this out at the end of February. But there are so many summer camps in the Tampa Bay area that we just had to keep collecting information. Eventually, though, you just have to stop. So, here it is, our biggest, baddest, humongous, ginormous list of camps. Last year we had a huge list and this year's list is no different. You're sure to find something that will keep your kid amused this summer in the Tampa Bay area.
And guess what? I'm not done with the list because I know there are probably others out there. So, if you don't see a camp on the list that you want other Mommas to know about, please send me an email so that we can add it to the rest.
Now, one of the day camps on our list is at Lowry Park Zoo which offers programs for kids in kindergarten to eighth grade. And you Mommas with older middle school students know it is increasingly difficult to find a camp for your kids. So a camp that goes up to eighth grade is always a good find. On Saturday, the Zoo is offering a one-day sale on summer camps. If you register online that day, you say 15 percent on the more than 100 weekly camps that your child can try. And here's something cool: If you pay a little extra, your child can rent a Fisher-Price Kid Tough digital camera from the zoo to capture special moments. Online registration begins at 12:01 a.m. March 13 and closes at 11:59 p.m. If you need more info, call 813-935-8552, ext. 268.
Some of the camps haven't started registration, so check the individual Web sites to see what is open. But for those that are open, you have a good chance to get your child's summer planned out. And then you can breathe again.

Freelance writer Courtney Cairns Pastor wasn’t so sure about having kids and how she would balance child-rearing with her journalism career. It turned out that her journalism training went to good use. As the mom to a funny, active toddler, she learned to handle him like she did her sources.
