Sandra Bullock becomes new mom, getting divorced
It's been the best year for Sandra Bullock and it's been the worst year for her. All the highs surrounded her Oscar-winning performance in The Blind Side and all the lows followed when it was revealed that her husband, Jesse James, had had several affairs.
But now life is looking up for the actress. She is adopting a 3 1/2-month-old baby from New Orleans who she has named Louis Bardot Bullock. The really cute tyke is named after the great trumpet player Louis Armstrong. We won't venture a guess where Bardot comes from. She also announced in a People magazine story that she is divorcing her husband. Says Bullock, "I am sad and I am scared."
The adoption had been in the works for years so it's a good thing that she didn't let the troubles with her marriage derail her plans. Kudos to Bullock, who was blindsided but seems to be looking at the bright side of things now.

Freelance writer Courtney Cairns Pastor wasn’t so sure about having kids and how she would balance child-rearing with her journalism career. It turned out that her journalism training went to good use. As the mom to a funny, active toddler, she learned to handle him like she did her sources.
