Dog makes a great reading coach for kids
I'm such a sucker for dog and kid stories, so this one had me swooning over Tucker the Welsh Springer Spaniel who lends two shaggy ears for children to practice their reading every week during the summer at the St. Pete Beach Library. (His next visit is Nov. 22 and then he'll be there Tuesdays and Thursdays during the winter break. Here's the schedule) He's helped children become more confident with their reading. The librarian thinks it's because he doesn't judge them. He just listens intently and moms have raved about how it's helped improve their kids' fluency in reading. If nothing else, it make the kids eager to head to the library to read to Tucker.
