Elmo is ALIVE!

July

Mom_elmolive The big toy this holiday season is rumored to be Elmo Live, an extremely lifelike version that follows in the footsteps of his brethren Tickle Me (1996) and TMX (2006). By tickling or squeezing him, Elmo will tell jokes, interact with your tot, stand and sit, and cross his legs. “The other Elmo toys made you laugh and dance, but Elmo Live really touches you.  It’s so amazingly alive,” says toy expert Jim Silver, former editor of "Toy Wishes" magazine.

If you don't believe him, check out this demonstration from the New York Toy Fair in February. Elmo did everything but go in the kitchen and make some chicken nuggets for your kids.

You can pre-order Elmo -- he costs about $60 -- from Fisher-Price Friends (a part of Mattel) at several stores starting Aug. 5. Yes, that's Tuesday. He is set to arrive Oct. 14, just before the real holiday shopping gets in gear. You can place your orders at such outlets as Wal-Mart, Toys “R” Us, Target, Kmart, amazon.com and eToys.com.

Okay, you have been sufficiently warned. So I don't want to see you in the stores later this year elbowing your fellow Mommas out of the way.

For more on toys, check out the tests we did on the Batman Dark Knight toys and Hulk toys.
