Finding childcare online

Would you hire a babysitter you found on the web?

I've done this with great success. Our cyber sitter has been with us for much of the last two years. She's sweet, dependable, and best of all, my kid loves her. She's off on an internship for awhile, and we need someone new.

After a couple misses, I've started to find a lot of promising local sitters on For parents, it costs 10 bucks a month, or about $100 for a year membership to use the site. It's well worth it. I've wasted a lot of time on craigslist, getting zero response to my ad, and never hearing back from most of the people I reached out to. (And the one woman I did meet? Think "To Catch a Predator.")Mom_scarywoman

And it's not me, I swear. On this sittercity site I've had lots of nibbles on my job post and have heard back from some qualified, nice girls. Just haven't found The One yet.

Anyone have any other good sitter sites they can share? Or, just want to tell me I'm nuts for finding childcare on the web?
