January

First, baby cribs were recalled this week. Now, it's portable play yards!

Earlier this week, Stork Craft recalled more than 1-million cribs that were sold Mom_playyard_2 in the United States and Canada because of a potential suffocation hazard. Now Fisher-Price is recalling about 200,000 Simplicity Rainforest Portable Play Yards because a rail on the play yard could unexpectedly collapse and trap a tot.

According to this story, there were a number of complaints reported about the play yard -- at least 1,350 -- with most of the injuries being bumps and bruises. Some of the more serious injuries included a mild concussion, a broken nose, a broken wrist and a cut that required stitches.

The model numbers for the recalled play yards are 5310 RNF, 5310RNFC and 5310RNFW.  The play yards were sold from January 2007 through this month for about $100.

Although it's logo is on the play yard, Fisher-Price did not manufacture or sell them -- they were made in China. But the toy giant is helping anyone who has one of the play yards. For more info, visit the Fisher-Price Web site or call toll-free 1-800-432-5437.
