Free heart health screenings for women on Friday!
Just a month ago we were all about wearing red and keeping our hearts healthy. But when February ended, our committment to doing the right thing might have fallen by the wayside.
Well, you can get back into it Friday at the Sister to Sister Foundation's 2009 Women’s Heart Health Fair. The health fair, which will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St. Admission is free.
The free services will include cardiac screenings to measure cholesterol, blood glucose levels, blood pressure, Body Mass Index, waist circumference and a review of family health history. During the fair, results will be given onsite and counselors will also be onsite to explain the results and offer suggestions to lower risk factors. There will also be chef and fitness demonstrations, free massages, giveaways and prizes.
And if you're thinking that you can't go because you'll have your little ones and they won't have fun there, take heart: There is a Healthy Hearts for Kids play area featuring a bouncy house, a balloon artist, activities for kids and giveaways for moms.
And to keep the love going, Evo’s in South Tampa will donate 10 percent of their sales from Saturday to Sister To Sister Tampa.
