Free party in Bradenton for Snooty's 60th birthday
Did you ever go see Snooty the Manatee when you were a kid? Well, now you can take your kid to see the oldest captive manatee in the world celebrate his 60th birthday at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton.
It's pretty amazing to think that an animal born when Harry Truman was in the White House is still captivating crowds with stunts he learned when he was just a calf.
Although Snooty's birthday is, technically, Monday, the party is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum, which is at 201 10th Street West, just off U.S. 301 in downtown Bradenton, near the (ahem) Manatee River.
Admission to the party is free, and tickets to the museum are half price. Museum officials are promising games, activities, fun and food -- but no birthday cake for Snooty, just some strawberries and pineapple slices. A fellow that age has to watch his diet. For more info, call (941) 746-4131.
