Whoa, Momma!

Got a whiny kid at Disney? Yep, there's an app for that

You can't expect us not to take advantage of having a local Momma as a member of the Disney Moms Panel. Soon after we broke the news that Suzannah DiMarzio, who lives in Wesley Chapel, had made it, we started picking her brain and asking her to share some tips with us here at Whoa, Momma!

Here's her second post and it will surely help you make it through Disney this weekend and beyond.

DisneyappsAs parents we've all  been there. You just know you'll lose your motherly cool if you hear one more "are we there yet?!" or similar whine from the backseat or the shopping cart or the line at Disney. It's time to take back the advantage with Disney and your iPhone or iPod Touch. While you check the line wait times, you can also calm and entertain those wild animals you know and love as your children. Here are some of the top child and parent-approved apps I found:

FamilyFun Craft Finder: This free (love that!) app is all you need for rainy and sunny day activities alike. From toddlers to tweens, you can choose the length of time and theme of the craft you'd like to make from endless choices in the Craft Finder. You can even share your crafts on Facebook, Twitter or via email.

Phineas and Ferb Arcade: Join these inventive brothers (we know how much Sherry and her family love them) as they play all sorts of wacky games with original music from the show. Earn achievements, challenge friends and more for $1.99. Oh, there you are Perry!

Disney's All Star Cards: Challenge your favorite Disney characters in a series of card games. Everything from Crazy 8's to Go Fish to Solitaire is here with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the gang. Collect pixie dust to customize your cards and change the rules. This app is full of dazzling animation for $1.99.

Alice in Wonderland: The Lite version of this Tim Burton-themed Disney movie game is free and will allow you to check out two levels of the puzzles, obstacles and fantastical graphics before purchasing the full game for $4.99. This is the mobile version of the same game now available for Wii and Nintendo DS.

Disney Puzzle Slider: For $1.99 you can choose from more than 125 puzzles with 16 themes and varying levels of difficulty, so parents and kids alike can join in the fun. Featuring art from Mickey to Pooh to Pirates of the Caribbean and even cutting edge Bloc28 street art.

LUMA: Connect lighted paths from one end to another by linking colorful branching nodes in this game from Disney Interactive that actually doesn't have a hint of Mickey. For 99-cents you will have hours of engaging fun as you try to solve the mind-boggling puzzles with great music and graphics.

Breakspin: This new spin on a classic brick-breaker game has a Lite version for free or the full game at $2.99. Amazing graphics, music and easy game play make this a truly addictive game of puzzling fun.

Jelly Car 2: Jelly Car is the free original version of this fun driving platform game of hand-drawn graphics and as the name implies, a car made from jelly! Disney took over and created Jelly Car 2, available for $.99 with more customization, 30 new levels and more squishy fun.

Disney: Don't forget this app that encompasses all Disney has to offer, videos and music from The Disney Channel and Radio Disney, Disney character games, the latest Disney news, and you can even purchase movie tickets -- bonus! This free app will provide your tween with hours of entertainment.
