Growing up with the Rays
My husband and I like to tell our oldest son that he went to the very first Tampa Bay Devil Rays game on March 31, 1998. Of course, he was inside my tummy at the time. But we tell him that's why he loves the team so much because he could hear all the oohs and aahs that day, all the excitement of baseball in Tampa Bay. It's a good story for a kid (like lots of kids) who wants to be a major leaguer some day.
Well, nearly 11 seasons have gone by and now the Rays are in the hunt for a World Series championship! And I bet there are lots of kids out there who have grown up with the Rays -- no Devil in sight. They have their own stories to tell.
Are your kids life-long Rays fans? Have they been going to games since they were in diapers? Gotten their ballcaps signed by all the players? Begged you for a blue-colored mohawk and tickets to the playoffs?
Then we want to hear from you for a story about children who have grown up loving the Rays. Write a paragraph about your son(s) or daughter(s) and what makes them such big Rays fans. Please include what city you live in, and the ages of your children and email it to Curtis Krueger at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And if you've got a pix of your kiddo from his or her first game to now, send those too.
