Have a teen looking for volunteer opportunities?

A great local organization, Suncoast Hospice, is having a Teen Volunteer Open House on Sept. 6. They are inviting any teens, ages 14 to 18, to come check out the volunteer opportunities with these wonderful folks. The kids do a variety of things, from helping in the "resale shoppes" to helping with special events. Teens also work the cameras and other equipment to help patients and families record their life stories or become Party Pals to celebrate special occasions with patients. They also form cheer teams to visit patients at home and bring a much-needed lift to their spirits.

Current teen volunteers will be there to share their stories, and there will be door prizes and snacks. The only catch is they want to recruit teen volunteers who will volunteer in mid-Pibnellas County and work out of the center at 5771 Roosevelt  Blvd. as their home base.  If you have a teen who would like to either volunteer at the Palm Harbor office or St. Petersburg office, please contact Kathi Wendt (727) 771-4433 or Laura McGary (727) 771-4435 for Palm Harbor or Fabiana Compas (727) 564-5920) for St. Petersburg.

The open house is Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt Community Service Center, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater.
