We have long been big fans of the shady playground at Largo Central Park because of its expansive space and lots of heat-shielding oak trees. The place is getting a facelift and the city is calling on the community for help.

Volunteers are needed to help build the new Largo playground. A community-build project is planned on a Saturday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They need the volunteers to register ahead of time, however.

All participants will receive a T-shirt to commemorate the event, and lunch will be provided. For information, visit LargoParks.com or contact the Parks Department at (727)586-7415.
