It really is Momma's taxi!
Some of my friends and I joke that our kids have a more active social life than we do. And between taking them to school, after-school and weekend activities, and the many birthday parties they get invited to, we spend a lot of time in the car.
So it comes as no surprise that women responding to a survey by Motherproof.com, a Web site devoted to helping moms find the best car for their family and driving needs, spent an average of 405 hours behind the wheel in 2008. That's the equivalent of 17 days going back and forth between kid engagements.
The survey was conducted online with a random sample of 1,028 women 25-42 years of age who have a child in the household 18 years old or younger. Survey respondents were selected to match U.S. population demographics.
Motherproof has come up with some tips on ways to make the constant car time better. And we want to add one: Use the time to talk to your kids. In the car, they are a captive audience. It's a good place to chat.
