Whoa, Momma!

Sharon Kennedy Wynne, Tracey Henry and Suzannah DiMarzio

Last-minute Mother's Day gift!

Mom_lovemom Looking for something funny for your Momma? Does she send you E-mails that make you giggle when you read them? Then check out what Lifestyles Editor Janet K. Keeler has to say about the book, Love, Mom: Poignant, Goofy, Brilliant Messages from Mom by Doree Shafrir and Jessica Grose (Hyperion, $17.99):

Think you can hide from Mom?

Think again. She’s in your face(book) and reading your tweets. E-mail? Yes, she’s figured it out and now you’re getting her advice and admonishments 24/7. Your blog? She’s reading that, too, even though she might be calling it a “blob.”

A Web site that’s been collecting missives from moms has now become a book, Love, Mom: Poignant, Goofy, Brilliant Messages from Mom. It’s a fun read, though a little frightening, and a great Mother’s Day present for moms online and off.

A peek into Mom notes:

• “Hello, Sweetie! I hope you are having a big time in Australia!! It’s Thanksgiving here, and we are thankful you are having a great adventure! I’ve been assuming that you are without Internet, not that your plane was hijacked by mutant dingos. Hugs from afar, Mom”

• “Have a wonderful junior year! 1. Don’t get murdered. 2. Don’t get stoned. 3. Don’t get drunk. 4. Have fun :). I love you, Mom”

• “Hello Children, I need your wish list for Christmas. I want to start and finish my shopping on Thursday, my day off. If I don’t receive your list by Wed night then I will assume you want nothing! Merry Christmas! Mom”

Wrap up this book with a promise to show her how to use Twitter or Facebook. Then clean up your act.
