Legoland is rising in Central Florida

legoland.jpgI've never been to a Legoland theme park, so I read with interest of colleague Mark Albright's tour of the Polk County construction site at the former Cypress Gardens site in Winter Haven.

One bit of news coming off the tours jumped out at me:

The $99 annual pass deal continues at through April 30. It will be good from the time the park opens in October through the end of 2012, so “annual” in this case will really be closer to 15 months of admission. Once open, full price is $75 for adults and $65 for kids 3 through 12.

Mark reports that the 150-acre park is on schedule for an October opening and will feature 20 rides and 30 other shows and attractions geared to kids 2 through 12 years old. Designers plan to offer four tame coasters after recently deciding to recycle Cypress Gardens' wooden Triple Hurricane into the Coastersaurus and redo an inverted steel coaster into Flight School, which features ride cars suspended from a track that look like a new line of Lego airplane kits.
