Lowry Park Zoo #1 again -- go there free for your birthday!

After a tumultuous year, the folks at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo must be breathing a little easier now. First, Mom_zootigercubs the zoo recently got it's accreditation back. And now it has been named the top zoo for kids among the nation's 10 best by Parents magazine. This is the second time the zoo has gotten this type of honor. Back in 2004, Child magazine also said Lowry Park was the best zoo in the U.S. for kids.

It is a fun zoo for children and when my kids were younger, they really loved going there. A deal that the zoo is offering this year may make us go back. Think of it as the Disney promise but on a local scale. Through Dec. 31, you can get free admission to the zoo on your birthday. That's it. You just have to present a driver's license, birth certificate, passport or military ID. And you have to go on your actual birthday, which is the same as Disney's offer. Now if your birthday happens to fall on Thanksgiving or Christmas, you can go the day before or the day after those holidays to get in on the deal.

With tickets for adults starting at $19.95, it's a deal worth checking out. And since your little ones 2 and under are free, it might be worth taking them on your day. It will be a happy birthday for all.
