Mannies in, nannies out?
Call me old-fashioned (not so loudly please) but I just don't see myself hiring a male nanny, or a "manny'' to take care of my sons (maybe unless it is Freddie Prinze Jr., right, who did a funny turn as a manny on "Friends''). Don't get me wrong, I think its probably a fine idea but just not for me. According to GreatAupair.com, more men are applying to become mannies each year: In 2003, the company had 2,612 male applicants registered. By the end of 2007, GreatAupair.com's selection of male nannies and au pairs rose to 3,689. As every mom knows, getting your child care in order is always at the top of your list. Sure Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Britney Spears have all jumped on the manny bandwagon, but there's something different about celebrities and we real folk.
