Miley Cyrus: Was she pole dancing at Teen Choice Awards?

The Teen Choice Awards on Fox entered bizarro world on Sunday

Your tween girls may still like Hannah Montana, but after Sunday's performance on the awards, Miley is no longer the same
tweener darling she used to be.

We understand she's 16 and desperately trying to make the break from tween idol to an adult who can be taken seriously (although someone should tell her that dating a 20-year-old model/singer and wearing some skanky clothes for an Elle photo shoot aren't exactly ways to be taken seriously.)

But on Sunday, Miley's tween queen crown may have been tarnished for good when she sang for the kids while twirling around a stripper pole. Sure it was affixed to an ice cream cart but that's just her image-makers trying to make it pleasing for parents and kids.

Our Pop Life pal Sean Daly says Miley, like other 16 year olds, is just exploring her sexuality -- it just happens that she has to do it on a much bigger stage than most girls. Things can turn ugly fast -- see Lindsey Lohan and other troubled child stars.

Add to the fact that the award show's red carpet was graced with envelope pusher Kathy Griffin, escorted by Bristol Palin's baby daddy ex-fiance Levi Johnson, and it made for a bizarre evening. That and the fact that there was a stationary pole in the goody room and several kids, including Miley's sister, posed next to it.

Miley, her mom and dad, her handlers at Disney and the folks at Fox who put on that awards show should all bear in mind that Miley is being watched and often copied by little girls who beg their Mommas for her line of dolls, clothes and tickets. And we really don't want to see the Official Miley Cyrus Doll Stripper Pole showing up on the shelves at Target.
