New exhibit adds to dolphin's tale
Fresh off the success of the Dolphin Tale movie, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium's new prop and movie set exhibit, called Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure, opens today featuring movie sets, interactive games and theaters for showing behind-the-scenes footage. The exhibit and the aquarium 2 miles away that is home to the famous Winter, the tail-less dolphin, are linked by a free Jolley Trolley shuttle.
The Harborview exhibit will instead feature movie sets, displayed props, and theaters for showing behind-the-scenes footage from the hit movie starring Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd.
You have a sun-dried heart if you haven't fallen for the story of the little dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap only to be rescued from certain death by a prosthetic one. Her determination has made her a hero to amputees who flock to the aquarium to meet their soul mate. You can read all about her story in this special report, which includes the four-part series by our colleague John Barry who was Pulitzer finalist for his work.
Admission for just the exhibit at Clearwater's Harborview Center is $11.95, seniors $10.95 and kids 3-12 $9.95. They have combo packages of the exhibit and CMA admission for $27.90, $23.90 seniors and kids 3-12) $19.90 for a two-site combo ticket. It is open Monday - Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
