We've all heard of old wives tales and superstitions. But here's a new one: wrap your injured hand in a wet diaper to reduce swelling.

That's what a champion boxer does, according to ESPN. WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko wrapped his infant son's wet diaper around his hands, saying the urine reduced the swelling.

So is it true?

Dr. Marcy Baker, a South Tampa pediatrician, solicited opinions from her colleagues and they all shared a good laugh."We can't come up with any medical or scientific way it could work," she said. "Maybe if you chilled the diaper? If it's cold, I could see it."
