No OTC cold remedies for kids under 4
Hey Mommas! Don't know if you had a chance to see this story but drug
companies are now urging parents NOT to give over-the-counter cold medications to children under age 4. In this Q/A in the Times, pediatricians say that they don't think the medicine does much good anyway and worry about risks from reactions.
Especially as we enter the heart of flu season, doctors encourage that you give your preschool children lots of fluids and plenty of rest. If a child is running a fever of 101 degrees or more, you can still give the recommended dosage of Tylenol or Motrin. But don't overuse that and keep a close eye on your wee ones.
