Out of this world contest for kids

42831.mom_walle_3.jpgLooking for some extra credit for the kids during holiday vacations? Me neither, but I am always looking for a little creative fun, so this just may be a little more inspiring.

NASA and Disney’s Wall-E are sponsoring a contest for kids in grades kindergarten through 12 to name the new Mars Science Laboratory Rover scheduled to launch in 2009. Kids can suggest names for the rover in short essay form from now until Jan. 25 to be eligible for lots of cool stuff, including the Grand Prize trip to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Disneyland in California. Look here for the official rules and entry form.

This might be a great brainstorming activity for your child while they’re resting it this Thanksgiving break.
