Parents try to save Nick Jr.'s Moose and Zee

mooseandzee.jpgPreschool parents are getting mad and getting organized about Nick Jr's decision to yank Moose and Zee from the channel. The duo did the little educational interludes between episodes, but now the channel is just using their Nick Jr. characters, like the Bubble Guppies.

Parents have taken to Nick Jr.’s Facebook page – or rather taken over the Facebook page – ranting about changes in format on Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. A preschool mom I know said she always liked Moose and Zee because they seemed less commercial and weren't pitching a certain show. And that seems to be the overriding sentiment.

And maybe that's what is sending them to retirement, they are not commercial enough. According to Nick Jr.'s website, "The characters your child already knows and loves--like Dora, the Bubble Guppies and Milli, Geo and Bot from Team Umizoomi--will guide the audience throughout the day and offer fun and educational content. Moose and his pal Zee are stepping away from the bright lights and cameras to focus on new plans of their own."

It's obvious parents take this stuff very personally when a child grows attached to a character. Should Nick Jr. have taken this into account instead of an abrupt end for these two?
