Pregnancy Pact - What were they thinking?
I don't care if your child is 2 months old or 22 years old, this story out of Massachusetts is just going to make your jaw drop. Seventeen girls all under the age of 15 decide to get pregnant -- at the same time! After doing some DNA testing, one father is found to be a 24-year-old homeless man! Officials at the school first learned of the pact after reading about it in "Time'' magazine! The exclamation points could go on and on. There are so many questions here that you don't know where to begin: Where were the girls' parents when this pact was hatched? How did the girls decide that this would be a good idea? Were they influenced by the movie "Juno'' which featured the upside of teen pregnancy? (That movie, by the way, met with some backlash). Can we blame Jamie Lynn Spears of "Zoey 101'' for this (she just had her baby Thursday)? What Hollywood doesn't show you is that pregnancy can be really tough, especially on a young, developing body. Maybe the time to talk to kids about this kind of behavior is during the tween years before a crazy pact like this one changes their lives forever.
