The road trip adventure begins!
If getting there is half the fun, I'm pretty sure I'll get gypped when I trek 1,169 miles from Tampa to Frankfort, Mich., this week with my husband and two daughters, 7 and 2. First, a 9:30 a.m. flight from Tampa to Detroit. Next, getting our luggage and renting a car. Finally, driving 4-5 hours to my parents' house in a remote part of Northern Michigan. All told, it should be at least a 10-hour travel day with my girls. Yes, I've got a bag packed with books, games, crayons, etc., all things they've never seen before. And I'll pack tons of snacks. I think that will cover me on the flight, but I expect I'll be out of tricks by the time we pile into our rental car. Oh, and did I mention that when I booked this flight two months ago, the BEST I could do was get us seats in FOUR different rows?! Good luck to the people sitting on either side of my 2-year-old! (I'm kidding! I'm not a person to make a scene, but if no one will let me sit next to her, I'm going to grab some attention.)
I'll keep a timeline of my travels and post them here soon. Advice is so welcome!!
