Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol has a boy
Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of the Alaska governor and former GOP vice presidential candidate, gave birth on Sunday to a 7-pound, 4-ounce boy named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston
"We think it's wonderful," Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother Sally Heath, told People magazine. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."
The baby's father, Levi Johnston, is an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player. He has been dating Bristol for three years. He told the Associated Press in October that the two would wed in 2009 and raise the child together.
An unrelated but interesting side note: Last week, Johnston's mother, Sherry Johnston, was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance, described by an Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman as being Oxycontin.
