Whoa, Momma!

Sleep, sleep, it's good for the heart

October

Tired_2 So I gave in and let my kids stay up late throughout the many late-night World Series games. The howls of outrage here on Go Momma that some mothers would even consider sending their kids to bed were deafening. I will admit to conveniently forgetting to tell my 6 year old a couple times that there was a game on that night. That trick didn't work on the older one. I know. It's history. But we are TIRED.

Now tonight is Halloween, always a fun but exhausting night, and no sleeping in for you kiddies on Saturday, there's a soccer game in the morning. Thank goodness Sunday is the return of Daylight Saving Time. We can't fall back soon enough into that extra hour of sleep if you ask me.

And now I read that doctors think those extra ZZZZZs might be good for the heart. Turns out Monday is the most common day of the week for a heart attack, likely because of the stress of a new work week. But the Monday  after the clocks go back? Not so much. We can joke about it, but lack of sleep is blamed for everything from obesity to road rage. The medical adviser to Consumer Reports is even worried that close to one-half of all teens are showing signs of insomnia with the scary side effect of elevated blood pressure.

You've had your fun. Now get back to sleep.
