Squelch this 'Squeakquel'

Going to the movies is one of the fun things that I love to do with my kids. We've seen some good films this Mom_alvin2 year: Up, Planet 51, Monsters vs. Aliens, to name a few. And I generally enjoy the movies as much as they do. But when we saw Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakquel, which opens today in theaters, our opinions were mixed. The kids said they really liked it, even though they didn't seem to laugh much. But I thought it just wasn't funny and attempts to be edgy for adults just seemed in poor taste. The makers of the Squeakquel probably don't care much since back in 2007, the first Alvin made more than $360 million worldwide. So I understand why they made it. I just wish that it could have been a lot funnier -- and that it included one less pole dancing joke. Maybe they can try harder if a third Alvin movie is planned.
