Whoa, Momma!

Sharon Kennedy Wynne, Tracey Henry and Suzannah DiMarzio

Thanks, Granny, but you really shouldn't have

Mom_bunnysuitAre you tired of the inappropriate or annoying gifts your parents send your kids? Or worse, do you buy the gift yourself and put it under the tree with a tag signed, “Love, From Grandma”? Then the folks at LifeTimes, the active living magazine for folks 50 and over, are looking for you, Momma. They want to know by FRIDAY, NOV. 7 what kinds of gifts you would really like for your parents to send your kids.

What do you think would be great gifts -- theater tickets, theme park gift cards, tickets for Rays games (they were pretty good this year) or maybe even a gift of their time? And which gifts should your parents avoid -- building blocks or pink bunny suits for tweens, the microscope or BB gun for the preschooler?

We want Grandmas and Grandpas to be creative -- a framed photo of you when you were little, perhaps -- and also enjoy the satisfaction of giving a gift that’s really appreciated, by Mommas and kids.

You can post your comments right here. Or you can E-mail your ideas and your full name, address and daytime phone number to [email protected]. Put “Gifts From Grandma” in the subject line. It's your chance to speak up or forever hold your peace -- at least until birthday time rolls around.

[Yes, that's poor Ralphie in A Christmas Story modeling the bunny suit given by an aunt who thought he was a little girl.]
