Try puppy hugging for a birthday party

puppies.jpgWe know parents are always looking for ways to shine as the most fun party planner ever. (C'mon, admit it).  So imagine our delight in finding out that the Southeastern Guide Dogs Discovery Center in Sarasota has rolled out a new feature: Puppy Hugging Birthday Parties.

They'll supply the cake, drinks and decor and after devouring the cake and ripping into the gifts, kids get to go to the puppy kennels for their very own private puppy-hugging session. The center encourages the dogs to get socialized -- and who doesn't love to cuddle a puppy? --  so everybody wins.

The parties are for a minimum of 10 children, $20 per child for a two-hour party.

But you don't have to make it a party to get your kids some puppy love. Every other Saturday at the guide dog center at 1618 Main St., Sarasota, they have Puppy Hugging Parties at 11 a.m. and the public is welcome. Best of all, they are free.

For more information and to reserve your spot,  contact Miranda Spinner, special events coordinator at (941) 729-5665 ext. 133.
