Vote, baby, vote! (And get free coffee, ice cream and doughnuts)
A few weeks back, I blogged about how my husband and I like to take our children to our precinct to get a kids-eye view of the electoral process. But with so many people taking advantage of early voting and the lines expected to be as long Tuesday, we are re-thinking our position. So, while they are in school, we are going to vote. We'll still get them an I Voted sticker, which is their favorite part.
But if you still plan to take your children, remember to pack your bag the way you always do when you take the kids and expect to wait in a long line: Take some snacks, water (for the kids and yourself) and if you have a little camp chair or your super beach towel, take that too. You never know how long the wait is going to be.
And after you vote, go enjoy a free cup of joe at Starbucks. Just go in, tell them you voted and get a 12-oz. cup of coffee for free. And if you can find a nearby Krispy Kreme doughnut shop or a Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop, they have freebies for voters, too!
And after all those freebies, Babies "R" Us is having an election day sale for the littlest non-voters.
