West Virginia lawmaker: Ban Barbie sales

Mom_pinkbarbieJust in time for her big 50th birthday, a politician in West Virginia wants to pass a bill that would ban the sale of Barbie in that state.

The proposal was made by state Democratic delegate Jeff Eldridge who says that the doll influences girls by placing too much importance on beauty rather than brains. That has been a long-standing complaint about the doll, whose big day falls on March 9. You don't think that's why Eldridge made the proposal now, do you?

At any rate, good luck with forcing a big conglomerate like Mattel out of your state. And thanks for watching over us, Mr. Eldridge, but it feels like that's a decision for parents to make. If I want to buy the doll for my niece or a classmate of my son's, and their parents don't object, then I am fairly certain it is none of your business.
