What's with all the ducks?

Duck_baby It wasn't until I read this tongue-in-cheek post on Babycenter on the Cultural Importance of Ducks that I realized how much we have been silently infiltrated by ducks. If you have a young kid, especially a baby, look around. Ducks are on everything. They play a part in about 80 percent of kiddie literature. You likely have them on your receiving blankets, your sippy cups, pajamas, towel sets, you name it.

As the poster rightly asks, As an adult citizen of this country I can, at times, go for years without thinking about, encountering, or discussing ducks. But for a reason not apparent to me, it has been decided that babies should be inundated by cuddly caricatures of ducks. And as parents, we accept this blindly.
