When our kids show how much they care
I just recently put up a post about parenting guru John Rosemond, who doesn't like the way most people are raising their kids these days. Maybe Rosemond hasn't yet heard about Ben Gullett, a 14 year old who was so worried about his dad Mark getting laid off from his job with the Tampa Bay Lightning that he made a video to tell the whole world to hire his dad. Well, his dad did get laid off last Thursday and now the video, which is up on YouTube, seems to be working.
In my previous post on Rosemond, I said we really should try not to get kids too scared about the economy. But as kids get older, you know they are going to see the worried looks and hear on the news and in some classes about the fiscal mess our country is in. So I think it is good to be honest to a point but we always need to let them be kids and try not to let the worries of the world get to them.
And we need to be thankful for kids like Ben who really care about their parents and want to help in their own way.
