In case you haven't guessed...
... I'm on vacation. Knew I needed it, and was convinced when I changed my out-of-office message and the last one said I'd be back on January 7. I think that was 2008. Not sure.

Heading to the Telluride Film Festival, which shows how sick I am if my time off consists of doing what I do for a living. But I loved movies way before that. Telluride is the most laid-back situation imaginable in this biz, a place where the films and attending guests aren't announced until the day before the projectors crank up. Keeps away a lot of the tabloid riff-raff who don't care anything about the medium except what they can pluck from it.
Thing is, you'll hear about these movies when top-10/awards season comes around. Last year's festival included Into the Wild, I'm Not There, Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Juno, Persepolis, The Counterfeiters (Oscar winner for best foreign film), etc. Plus a tribute to Daniel Day-Lewis presaging his Oscar win for There Will Be Blood. Anyone who loves movies would like to be here in hindsight.
I may blog, or not. Don't take it personally.
I'll have good stuff and ambition when I get back.
