WMNF film series "will not be televised"
Instead, it will be shown August 21 and 22 at a couple of Tampa Bay locations. WMNF-FM (88.5 on your dial) continues its film series with the documentary The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, chronicling the 2002 coup in Venezuela that temporarily ousted president Hugo Chavez.

You can catch the movie August 21 at Globe Coffee Lounge, 532 1st Ave. N in St Petersburg on August 21, and the next evening WMNF Studios, 1210 W. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. in Tampa. Both shows start at 7:00 p.m. Seating is limited, advance tickets for $5.00 are available by calling WMNF, 813-238-8001 during regular business hours. Admission will be $8 at the door.
Irish filmmakers Kim Bartley and Donnacha O'Briain didn't plan to make this particular movie. They were in Venezuela doing a profile of Chavez, soon after his landslide election victory. Wealthy Venezuelans didn't like that outcome, certain that Chavez's reforms would redistribute wealth generated through the country's oil profits.
Bartley and O'Briain witnessed the coup when the opposition, bolstered by military troops, sympathetic media and possibly the CIA, took over the presidential palace.
There will be an open discussion following each screening.
