Friday Fromage: Blast-Off Girls, with guest star Col. Sanders
My Blood Feast buddy Herschell Gordon Lewis isn't merely a progenitor of gore. He also whipped up Blast-Off Girls, a 1967 wheel of cheese blowing the lid off the seamy world of two-chord rock'n'roll bands, their groupies and the mind-altering drugs making them appear attractive.
Blast-Off Girls offers a seedy promoter named Boojie Baker (Dan Conway) discovering a garage band he promises to take straight to the top, although he's really taking them to the cleaners. No plucked eye sockets or ripped-out tongues in this one but Mr. KFC himself, Col. Harland Sanders, has a cameo and you don't want to know what he does to those chickens in the kitchen.
As a Fourth of July weekend bonus, here's the Colonel's big scene. Enjoy!
