In the know. In the Times.

The blogging age on the Internet allows anyone to post anything at anytime.  Blogs are read by consumers scanning for news and quick tidbits, and what they read is frequently taken for truth.  But is it the truth?  Is it the stretched truth with some parts missing?  Or is it a flat out lie?  Two blog postings in recent days have attacked the Obama administration, and both were found to be contortions of the truth artfully rearranged to give a different, false impression.  Does the first dog, Bo, really have his own plane?  PolitiFact  found the answer to be no, but not before blog readers took the comment as 100 percent truth and fired off complaints in the comments.  In a much more serious offense, Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign from her White House job, and then promptly apologized to by the President after it was found that a blog misrepresented statements she made more than two decades ago.  Do you believe everything you read on the Internet, or do you do your research to sort out the truth from the lies?  What blogs do you read?  Do you feel they are giving you accurate information?  Share your thoughts here!
