In the know. In the Times.
The US Postal Service is a business struggling to survive. Most people probably assume that the local Post Office will always be there, open for business with friendly people behind the counter, ready to assist you in mailing your holiday packages to family in other places. But what if it closed down for good? What if there were no more letters, no more packages, no more mail? It seems hard to imagine, but it is becoming a reality. The article "Stamp prices may be going up," featured in the July 7 edition of the Times focuses on the ways the USPS has cut back duringthe past year to save money, and yet they still decided to raise the price of stamps starting in January 2011 to make up for the monetary losses. Read the article in the electronic edition or on Tampabay.com and comment here. What are some ways the Postal Service has cut back in 2010? What are some reasons that the Postal Service is losing money?
