Florida OJ ... trouble in paradise



Florida orange juice may soon become a scarce item on grocery store shelves.  Recent reports show that many citrus groves around the state have been abandoned or untended in the past few years, due to various economic hardship reasons.  Unkempt citrus groves are breeding grounds for diseases like citrus canker and citrus greening, both of which damage the fruit in different ways.  Read the article on the front page of today’s Times, “Trouble lurks in Florida’s untended citrus groves," and tell us what you think.  What do you think would happen if Florida orange juice cannot be produced or delivered to the rest of the country?  Will Florida lose one of its iconic industries?  Post your comments below.
