Invasion of the jellyfish

Silent and unseeing, jellyfish floating along at the mercy of the tides are colliding with people using the waters off Volusia County for swimming and other recreation.  The jellyfish are just hoping to catch a meal, but those folks swimming in the waters are feeling the pain from venomous tentacles.  Lifeguards are easily able to remedy the sting with a mixture of vinegar and water.  Read the article, “Jellyfish invade waters along Volusia shoreline,” on page 10B of today’s Times and check out the picture of the box jellyfishes long tentacles.  Have you ever been stung by a jellyfish?  Does that experience keep you out of the water, or not?  Share your thoughts here on our blog.
